A fresh start for Maple Leaf: join our 2026 volunteer & committee open house

January tends to come with a lot of quiet questions: Should I get more involved this year? Do I have time to give back? Where would I even start? If you’ve ever thought about helping out in Maple Leaf but weren’t sure how, this event is for you.
Our 2026 Volunteer & Committee Open House is a low-key way to learn how the Maple Leaf Community Council works and where neighbors plug in. You’ll hear directly from committee leads and volunteers in Communications, Outreach, and Events, along with board members, about what’s coming up this year and what kind of help they need. That includes planning and running events like Movie Nights, Silent Book Club, the Summer Social, the Halloween Parade, community meetings, and helping keep our newsletter and routes going strong.
After a short group overview, we’ll break into smaller conversations by committee so you can talk with the folks doing the work and ask real questions. There’s no expectation to sign up for anything on the spot. This is about curiosity, connection, and finding a way to be involved that actually fits your life, whether that’s once a year or once a month. We hope you’ll come say hello and start the year feeling a little more connected to your neighborhood.
